4. Pros and Cons of Installing a Powerstroke EGR Delete Kit
Installing a Powerstroke EGR Delete Kit, especially on the 6.0L Powerstroke diesel engine, can be one of the most impactful upgrades you make—if it’s done correctly and with a high-quality product like SPELAB’s. Whether you’re considering an EGR Delete Kit 6.0 Powerstroke for better towing performance or simply tired of recurring EGR system failures, it’s important to understand the full picture.
4.1 Benefits of Using an EGR Delete Kit 6.0 Powerstroke:
-
Increased Reliability
Factory EGR systems on the 6.0L Powerstroke are known for failure-prone components like leaky coolers and stuck valves. An EGR 6.0 delete kit removes these weak points entirely. -
Lower Operating Temps
Without hot exhaust gases being recirculated, the intake system runs cooler. This leads to reduced engine strain, especially under load. -
Improved Fuel Economy & Power
Cleaner combustion equals better throttle response. Users commonly report up to 8-10% horsepower gains and 3-6% better fuel mileage after installing a Powerstroke EGR delete kit. -
Cleaner Engine Internals
Eliminating the EGR system reduces carbon buildup in the intake manifold, turbo, and valves—minimizing long-term maintenance costs.
4.2 Things to Consider Before Deleting EGR on a 6.0 Powerstroke:
-
Legal & Emissions Compliance
In many states or regions, removing the EGR system is not emissions-compliant. Always check local laws before installing an EGR Delete Kit 6.0 Powerstroke. -
Check Engine Light (CEL)
On some models, removing the EGR system without a tuner may trigger a CEL or affect diagnostics. We recommend pairing your egr 6.0 delete kit with a tuner or reflash. -
Warranty Impact
EGR deletes may void emissions-related warranties. Be aware of trade-offs before committing.
While there are some considerations, the performance and reliability benefits of installing an EGR delete kit for 6.0L Powerstroke engines outweigh the drawbacks for most diesel truck owners—especially when towing, hauling, or running performance tunes.

Installed CCV catch can kit for a 2016 Ford F250 very easy to install so far no issues would recommend/seems to be very good quality/
The parts were packaged well and customer service was amazing. The instructions were super easy to follow and overall layout of the kit made the install go like a breeze. I only took three hours to install the kit and I’ve hadn’t had a single problem with it. You can hear a difference in the truck and the mileage has gone up. I would recommend this kit.
Perfect fit, very happy with my purchase
Everything is super high quality, and the absolute best price is could find if i had to complain about anything it would be the exhaust tip I wish the flange for the clamp was .1 longer to get a socket on it.
Product looks good and bolted on with ease. I used the factor fill hole for the first fill and it aligned perfectly with the ball floating in the middle of the sight glass. In the future I can just top fill and use the glass as the gauge. Very happy with it so far!
My spec lab EGR delete kit has been absolutely amazing. It was fast and easy to install and keep my truck running 5° cooler.
The installation went great just to remove the 2024 gmc cover vent you need a t40 bit and to hammer it in to get the security screws out. Love the look and over all installation God Bless.
Shipping was fast an parts fit perfect
Easy to install. Data from before and after shows a large gain in airflow. MPG did get slightly better. Only recommendation for SPELAB is that they polish the inside of the horn to keep soot from collecting on non EGR deleted vehicles.
It was easy to install did not come with instructions but i did watch a YouTube video and was done pretty quick.
Amazing craftsmanship for the price, only beef is it could be powder coated a little higher where the cap goes on an maybe a little bit nicer of a cap but overall 5/5, very impressed.
Well, made in a good price no complaints
Kit was complete every thing lined up and I do have more power and better mpg. Customer service helped when FedEx wasn’t delivering once customer service called them. I received the parts in two days.
Super easy install everything needed was included looks amazing
After adding mine to the car, it looks fantastic. Blends in with the engine bay and doesn't look terrible with the plastic OEM one. It was easy to swap out. The only issue I have is that there is no actual cold marker on the reservoir so I had refilled as the instructions said and it pushed the extra into the overflow tank and it is now overfilled and leaking. I also think having a mount for the batter cable to reattach would be good so the cable isn't laying against the tank would be great. Outside of that it looks great and so far haven't seen any over heating issues.
