FAQS

Yes. The LWN 2.8L Duramax runs forced regeneration cycles every 200–300 miles under light loads, causing fuel dilution and carbon buildup. A DPF delete eliminates the filter entirely, stopping regen cycles and restoring normal oil change intervals. The 3" DPF Delete Race Pipe replaces the factory DPF with a straight-through pipe for unrestricted flow and cleaner oil.

The Race Pipe replaces only the DPF section with a straight 3" pipe and a muffler. The Full Exhaust System replaces the entire turbo-back exhaust from the downpipe to the tailpipe for maximum flow and a complete bolt-in install. Start with the Race Pipe if you want the biggest power gain per dollar; upgrade to the full system if you want maximum sound and flow with no restrictions.

Yes. The LWN 2.8L is notorious for EGR cooler cracking and carbon-clogged intake ports—a leading cause of the P0401 code and power loss. The SPELAB EGR delete kit removes the EGR valve and cooler entirely, eliminating the failure point. The engine breathes cleaner, runs cooler, and avoids the costly intake port cleanup that plagues stock LWN engines.

Installation is bolt-on for the Colorado/Canyon LWN—no welding required. Plan 2–4 hours with basic hand tools. Remove the factory DPF and EGR components, install the delete pipes and block-off plates, and re-route any sensors. The LWN's undercarriage is tighter than full-size trucks, so a lift makes the job much easier. Professional install runs $150–$300 if you're not comfortable under the chassis.

No—not for on-road use in any U.S. state. The Clean Air Act prohibits removing DPF, EGR, and DEF emissions equipment from highway vehicles. Delete parts are strictly for off-road racing and closed-course use. If your Colorado needs to pass inspection or will be driven on public roads, keep the stock emissions system intact and consider a tune-only solution instead.
