Powerstroke DPF Delete Performance Gains – Why It’s a Smart Upgrade
Choosing a SPELAB DPF delete system for your Powerstroke isn’t just about sound—it’s about unlocking the real potential of your diesel engine. Stock DPF systems are restrictive by nature, designed for emissions control at the cost of performance. With SPELAB’s DPF delete pipes, turbo-back exhausts, and race pipe setups, you can expect meaningful improvements across key performance areas:
-
Horsepower Gains: Add +40–60 HP on a 6.7 Powerstroke, especially when paired with custom tuning
-
Torque Boost: Up to +120 lb-ft, giving you extra low-end power for towing or acceleration
-
Lower EGTs: Up to 200°F drop in exhaust temps, protecting your turbo and improving durability
-
Better Fuel Efficiency: Users report 2–4 MPG increases, especially on long hauls
-
Improved Sound: A deeper, cleaner straight pipe exhaust tone without excess drone
-
Turbo Response: The larger 5-inch exhaust reduces backpressure and improves turbo spool-up
All these gains are made possible by SPELAB’s attention to flow dynamics, mandrel-bent tubing, and optimized pipe routing. Whether you're going with a full turbo-back exhaust or a simple race pipe, the difference in drivability and reliability is night and day.
Types of Powerstroke DPF Delete Exhaust Systems – Find the Right Fit for Your Ford
At SPELAB, we recognize that no two Powerstroke builds are the same. That’s why we’ve designed a comprehensive range of DPF delete exhaust system types specifically for Ford F250, F350, F450, and 3.0L F150 diesel trucks. Here’s a breakdown of the system types available on this page and who they’re designed for:
-
Race Pipe – A lightweight option that removes only the DPF on 6.7L or 3.0L Powerstroke engines. Easy to install and ideal for light-duty performance builds.
-
DPF Delete Pipe – Mid-section replacement that maintains stock routing while eliminating the restrictive DPF filter—great for budget-friendly upgrades on F250 and F350 trucks.
-
CAT & DPF Delete Pipe – Purpose-built for 2008–2010 6.4L Powerstroke engines, this combo pipe removes both emissions components and restores lost mid-range torque.
-
Turbo-Back Exhaust – Full system from turbo outlet to tailpipe, recommended for tuned 6.7L builds aiming for peak power and airflow. Available in high-flow 5” variants.
-
Downpipe-Back Exhaust – Retains turbo-side piping and replaces the downstream exhaust. A stable and efficient upgrade, especially for 2020+ SuperDuty models.
-
DPF-Back Exhaust – Focuses on post-DPF exhaust tone and tailpipe styling. Ideal for those who want better sound without removing emissions equipment.
-
Straight Pipe Exhaust – For off-road and track-only builds, this free-flowing setup eliminates all restrictions and delivers raw diesel sound—popular among tuned F250/F350 builds.
-
Dual Outlet Systems – Designed for both form and function, our dual exhaust configurations are favored by SuperDuty owners wanting more flow and aggressive aesthetics.
-
4-Inch vs 5-Inch Systems – Choose 4” for lightweight daily setups like the 3.0 Powerstroke, or go 5” for maximum output on 6.7L Powerstroke platforms under heavy loads or tuning.
Every type listed on this page is engineered for specific Powerstroke applications, ensuring you get the performance and fitment your Ford diesel deserves.

FAQ
Q1: Can I keep my stock exhaust parts after installing a SPELAB delete system?
Yes. Most users store their OEM DPF system and tailpipe for potential resale or reinstallation. SPELAB exhaust kits are bolt-on, allowing full reversibility.
Q2: After deleting the DPF, do I still need to maintain EGR or DEF?
That depends on your tuning setup. Some tuning files delete EGR/DEF along with DPF. For 6.7 Powerstroke users, consult your tuner or installer for a full emissions strategy.
Q3: Does SPELAB offer tuning files or recommend any tuners?
We don’t sell tuning software, but our systems are compatible with EFI Live, SCT, EZ Lynk, and HP Tuners. Contact us and we’ll point you toward reliable tuners for your engine year.
Q4: What if I ordered the wrong delete pipe? Can I return or exchange it?
Yes, if unused and in original packaging. We offer a 30-day hassle-free return window, especially for products like dpf delete pipe 6.7 powerstroke and 3.0 Powerstroke kits. Contact support for help.
Q5: How can I tell if my Powerstroke uses a 4” or 5” tailpipe?
Measure the tailpipe diameter near the axle. Factory setups are usually 4”, while aftermarket systems (like SPELAB 5”) are visibly larger. Send a photo—we’ll confirm fitment.
Q6: Is there a no-cut, no-weld option for installation?
Yes. All SPELAB turbo-back, delete, and straight pipe systems are fully bolt-on—no cutting or welding required. Perfect for DIY builds.
Q7: What if I get stuck during install? Does SPELAB offer support?
Definitely. Our bilingual support team is ready to help via email or phone, and we provide step-by-step YouTube tutorials for every platform—including dual exit and 5” kits.

Highly recommend clean, good quality, fast shipping. 100% haves my business is had my power coated
Everything went in and on very smoothly everything fit and as should only thing I will say is does not come with bolts for up pipe and the gaskets are decent but would upgrade to some mahle gaskets and get a set of ppe up pipe bolts other than that very solid affordable set of parts the coating on the up pipe will burn off due to heat but it does not affect performance of part or affect truck at all definitely recommend if your looking for performance parts while trying to save some money it definitely gave my Lly duramax the tone and power I was looking for!
I received a box with no grid heater delete got a hold of customer service and receive one in three days. Fantastic service.
Install was easy works great at a fraction of the price. Heat element started truck at 8 degrees the other day just like the original grid heater did.
Worth the money and 1/4 of the price 100% recommend them i run the pipe 1 my dad runs there newer style both are worth the money. And just put 1 on my father's in-law truck.
Installed on ford e350 super duty dana 70fit was perfect
Having trouble keeping clap rings on the hose and pipe they keep blowing off when boost pressure coming up.
Perfect fitment and function.
I have a 2005 ram with the 5.7 I had a 2018 challenger with duel coil packs so I got this valve cover to fit and used the mmx adapters and boom! Looks amazing. Only thing is the screws and lock washers are not good...torque specs will break the lock washers and I think one coil thread hole got stripped but other than that I got it too work. Thanks!
Install was easy as long as you take the fuel line off the manifold and reinstall it after bolting down the intake. It also helps having an intake heater since removing the grid heater. No more check engine lights after a cold start. The quality of Spelabs products are great. And the price point is even better.
combined it with the intake horn, new intercooler and pipe kit. added the valve cover. Seems to function well. instructions were adequate- could be better. I assume a few of the complaints on the reviews may have been instruction related. We will see how it compares- ran stock for 230k- will try this now.
Bought this kit as part of a larger overall DCR Pump conversion. Kit came quick, complete and works as advertised.
Very pleased with spelab. My horn is awesome and arrived in great shape. The heating element however I was not so lucky with. It arrived damaged. I reached out to spelabs support and they promptly sent me a new one free of charge. Installing that tonight. 5 stars
Happy to eliminate the risk from the oem grid heater bolt. This allows way more air than the oem too. I chose red and the red on the horn isn't the same shade as the manifold cover or throttle valve delete that are also spelab but the quality and price point is what I look for
Boost tubes were of quality materials at a much more reasonable price than competitors. Provided much more breathable air for the turbo. The only thing that would have been nicer, is a more detailed instruction sheet. Web site linked a video install that was not as clear on details. Figured it out. As everone else said, "pain in the but install".
