What Does SPELAB Diesel Tuning?
While OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) setups are built for mass-market reliability and emissions compliance, they often limit a diesel engine’s full potential. SPELAB Diesel Tuning unlocks this potential by modifying and replacing key factory components that restrict performance.
For example, stock ECUs in trucks like the 2019 Ford F-250 6.7L Powerstroke or 2016 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins come programmed with conservative fuel and timing maps designed to prioritize emissions over output. SPELAB’s ECU tuner recalibrates these parameters to deliver more aggressive and efficient combustion. Similarly, factory-installed EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) and DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) systems are designed to reduce emissions but often cause carbon buildup and increased exhaust backpressure. SPELAB’s EGR delete kits and DPF delete pipes remove these restrictions, helping engines breathe easier and run cooler.
For engines like the 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L Duramax, replacing the OEM CCV system with a rerouted design prevents oil vapor from re-entering the intake—significantly improving system cleanliness and turbocharger longevity. The result across all models is a smoother-running engine with increased power, better throttle response, and fewer long-term maintenance issues.
SPELAB Diesel Tuning Components and Functions: Building a High-Performance Diesel System
SPELAB Diesel Tuning isn’t just one product—it’s a complete diesel performance ecosystem. Each component plays a critical role in transforming your diesel truck from factory-limited to fully optimized. Whether you're driving a 2018 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins or a 2012 Ford F-350 6.7L Powerstroke, SPELAB offers precise, vehicle-specific upgrades that maximize power, efficiency, and control.
1. Tuner (ECU Programmer)
The tuner is the brain of SPELAB Diesel Tuning. It recalibrates your truck’s ECU to adjust fuel delivery, air intake, ignition timing, and turbo boost logic. For models like the 2019 Ford F-250 6.7L Powerstroke and 2017 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins, the SPELAB Tuner offers multiple power levels—Daily, Towing, and Performance—switchable on demand.
Users can expect up to a 15–30% increase in horsepower, faster turbo spool times (up to 40% improvement), and reduced fuel consumption—all while staying within safe engine parameters. It's ideal for heavy-duty tasks or high-performance builds.
2. EGR Delete Kit
The EGR system recirculates exhaust gases to reduce NOx emissions, but it also introduces carbon buildup and reduces combustion efficiency. SPELAB’s EGR delete kits use high-temperature, corrosion-resistant hardware to completely remove the EGR system.
Perfect for trucks like the 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L Duramax or 2015 Ford F-350 6.7L Powerstroke, deleting EGR can lower engine temps by 10–20°F, reduce soot buildup, and extend engine life—especially in demanding use cases.
3. DPF Delete Pipe
While DPF filters help with emissions, they restrict exhaust flow and cause high backpressure, especially under load. Trucks like the 2016 RAM 3500 6.7L Cummins can suffer from performance loss and regeneration issues due to clogged filters.
SPELAB’s DPF delete pipe features a straight-through, stainless-steel design that drastically reduces exhaust restriction. This results in cooler exhaust temps (up to 150°F lower) and as much as 35% faster engine response.
4. CCV Reroute Kit
OEM crankcase ventilation systems reroute oily vapors back into the intake, leading to dirty intercoolers, intake valves, and turbochargers. SPELAB’s CCV reroute system vents these vapors externally using a sealed, single-direction design.
It’s a must-have for trucks like the 2013 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.6L Duramax or 2011 Ford Super Duty 6.7L Powerstroke. Benefits include cleaner intakes, improved turbo longevity, and better combustion efficiency.
5. EGT Relocation Kit
After tuning, accurate exhaust gas temperature (EGT) readings become critical. OEM sensors are often located too far downstream for timely readings. SPELAB’s relocation kit moves the sensor closer to the turbo for real-time monitoring.
Ideal for vehicles like the 2018 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins or 2020 Ford F-350 6.7L Powerstroke, this upgrade reduces temp reading lag and ensures safer tuning conditions, with temperature accuracy improved by ~15°F.
6. CAN BUS Plug
The CAN BUS Plug allows users to monitor real-time ECU data, engine vitals, fuel economy, and fault codes—without disassembly. It’s plug-and-play via the OBD-II port and essential for making the most of your SPELAB tuning setup.
On trucks like the 2021 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins or 2019 Ford Super Duty 6.7L Powerstroke, this tool gives you fast insights to adjust, fine-tune, and monitor everything from boost levels to regen cycles.
7. Delete Kits (Full System Packages)
For customers looking for a one-and-done solution, SPELAB offers full delete kits that bundle EGR, DPF, and DEF deletes with all necessary hardware and tuning files. These are especially helpful for platforms like the 2016 Chevy Silverado 6.6L Duramax LML, where system complexity demands complete integration.
With full delete kits, users typically see a 30%+ horsepower gain, reduced fault codes, and greater system synergy—all with installation-friendly compatibility.

Tuning Differences Between Powerstroke, Cummins, and Duramax Diesel Engines
Not all diesel engines respond to tuning in the same way. That’s why SPELAB Diesel Tuning offers platform-specific solutions designed to match the engineering traits of Powerstroke, Cummins, and Duramax engines. Understanding these differences is essential for achieving optimal performance gains.
Powerstroke Tuning: Precision for Complex Systems
Ford’s Powerstroke engines, especially the 6.0L, 6.4L, and 6.7L variants, are known for their complex emissions systems and tight ECU control. For trucks like the 2015 Ford F-250 6.7L Powerstroke or the 2008 Ford F-350 6.4L Powerstroke, SPELAB tuning focuses on recalibrating delicate timing windows and fuel delivery strategies while improving turbo response and reducing system strain.
SPELAB recommends combining the Tuner, EGR Delete, and DPF Delete for a full transformation, especially on 6.0L and 6.4L models which are notorious for EGR and coolant-related issues. These changes not only restore power but also improve reliability—critical for towing and off-road use.
Cummins Tuning: Unleashing Raw Power with Simplicity
Cummins engines, such as the 5.9L and 6.7L, are celebrated for their mechanical simplicity and bulletproof construction. Tuning a 2016 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins or a 2007 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9L Cummins often yields dramatic gains because the engine is highly responsive to fuel and boost recalibration.
SPELAB tuning on Cummins platforms typically starts with a DPF Delete Pipe and a Tuner for immediate power and throttle gains. To maintain safe EGTs during heavy hauling, an EGT Relocation Kit is highly recommended. Cummins owners often favor this platform for race-ready builds and long-distance towing rigs.
Duramax Tuning: Navigating Electronic Complexity
Duramax engines like the LML 6.6L and L5P 6.6L offer a strong foundation but come with tightly integrated emissions and ECU systems. Trucks like the 2014 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L Duramax require tuning that carefully navigates factory limits without triggering limp modes or DTCs.
SPELAB recommends starting with a CCV Reroute to protect the turbo from oil vapor contamination, followed by Tuner and DPF Delete modifications. The CAN BUS Plug is especially useful for Duramax users looking to monitor tuning effects in real time and ensure system health.
Whether you own a 2020 RAM 2500 6.7L Cummins, a 2018 Ford F-350 6.7L Powerstroke, or a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.6L Duramax, SPELAB delivers tailored tuning solutions that respect the unique DNA of your engine while pushing it to peak performance.

Excellent quality.
I have a 2017 Ram 2500 2wd and looking to make it last as long as possible. With extra fluid capacity and cooling fins, I felt that this is better than stock. The hardware that came with it looks great and appreciated because I was going to replace the old anyways. Even the gasket is heavy-duty and looks like it's reusable if needed. Not a thin felt like material but a thicker quality rubber. Shipping was like 4 days. I am pleased with my purchase and would highly recommend it.
Highly recommend clean, good quality, fast shipping. 100% haves my business is had my power coated
Everything went in and on very smoothly everything fit and as should only thing I will say is does not come with bolts for up pipe and the gaskets are decent but would upgrade to some mahle gaskets and get a set of ppe up pipe bolts other than that very solid affordable set of parts the coating on the up pipe will burn off due to heat but it does not affect performance of part or affect truck at all definitely recommend if your looking for performance parts while trying to save some money it definitely gave my Lly duramax the tone and power I was looking for!
I received a box with no grid heater delete got a hold of customer service and receive one in three days. Fantastic service.
Install was easy works great at a fraction of the price. Heat element started truck at 8 degrees the other day just like the original grid heater did.
Worth the money and 1/4 of the price 100% recommend them i run the pipe 1 my dad runs there newer style both are worth the money. And just put 1 on my father's in-law truck.
Installed on ford e350 super duty dana 70fit was perfect
Having trouble keeping clap rings on the hose and pipe they keep blowing off when boost pressure coming up.
Perfect fitment and function.
I have a 2005 ram with the 5.7 I had a 2018 challenger with duel coil packs so I got this valve cover to fit and used the mmx adapters and boom! Looks amazing. Only thing is the screws and lock washers are not good...torque specs will break the lock washers and I think one coil thread hole got stripped but other than that I got it too work. Thanks!
Install was easy as long as you take the fuel line off the manifold and reinstall it after bolting down the intake. It also helps having an intake heater since removing the grid heater. No more check engine lights after a cold start. The quality of Spelabs products are great. And the price point is even better.
combined it with the intake horn, new intercooler and pipe kit. added the valve cover. Seems to function well. instructions were adequate- could be better. I assume a few of the complaints on the reviews may have been instruction related. We will see how it compares- ran stock for 230k- will try this now.
Bought this kit as part of a larger overall DCR Pump conversion. Kit came quick, complete and works as advertised.
Very pleased with spelab. My horn is awesome and arrived in great shape. The heating element however I was not so lucky with. It arrived damaged. I reached out to spelabs support and they promptly sent me a new one free of charge. Installing that tonight. 5 stars
