this 2017 3500 Ram with now 111274 miles was used by PO to pull 5th wheel and now it pulls a 30 ft airstream TT.. I change out fluid at 96K with OEM cover and started looking for replacement.. this is great with magnetic drain plugs which is a great help as we change out oil every 35K miles as we tow a lot..

This new alum cover with fins is much like the AAM unit used on teh HO engines from factory with not quite the amount of and placement of fins but in the end this accomplished the goal of keeping the fluid cooler especially when towing.

One thing i did notice was the no actual instruction on what was proper level of oil in sight glass.. Usually on OEM cover you fill till the oil dribbles out the fill plug on cover and that if good..

on this model I noticed the sight glass was lower than the OEM plug determining the level need to be not the middle of the sight glass but at the TOP of the sight glass.. just saying.. the inside has fluid diversion fins so help move the oil to ponion gear and the side bearing on housing..

The fit and finish are great and it looks super cool now in the alum color.. I though about spray painting and sanding the edge of the fins to have that nice contrast but left it silver.

Product mounting and performance meets specifications. I was able to reuse factory rubber seal with new kit bolts. Bolts could stand to be approximately .100”-.200” longer. Just work them down in cross pattern torque and was all good. So far I like this product for its fill/drain plugs and site glass and it seems to be keeping fluid cooler.

Great product, well made, fit is perfect. Hardware sent is a little short in my opinion so I reused factory hardware. Turned out great.

This is a good upgrade. I change the rear differential fluid frequently so now I will be able to drain and refill more easily. Easy install. No leaking. Hardware and gasket included. Very happy

Good looking unit, only thing I found that I didn't like or something I would change would be how squared off the cooling fins are because I'm my truck my sway bar hits on the one side so I had to clearance one of the fines so it didn't hit.

Cover itself is great. The o-ring for the plugs is a delicate design and should be switched to a copper or aluminum washer seal. The sight glass plug should be moved to the side so it isn't blocked by the sway bar and is visible without crawling under the truck. I do like how the fill plug is on top but could be slightly lower and also on the side more to ease filling. Fill plug only needs to be higher than the level line. Overall great for the price but expect some work to find better sealing washers for the plugs

Fits good, looks great, love it! The washers that came with it seemed a little too big, but once I torque the bolts, they seated fine.

Bolts were too short, some wouldn't even catch a thread. Had to go buy longer hardware, otherwise a good product.

Great cover, awesome design, clean, although the wrong bolts were sent out with the product. Made it work but would be nice to have all the same color bolts

Very well made, bolted up perfect. Definitely recommend this diff cover.

Please use different fasteners for mounting torque spec for this cover 30ft lbs chrome plated star fasteners strip out way to easy mine are tight but I will never be able to get them out without a stripped thread tool

Install when really well, i do recommend that you get spacers for sway bar, as once the cover is installed, the cover can not be removed without removing the sway bar

The Spelab rear differential cover is hands down a Best Buy , it’s built as good as a Banks differential cover and over 100 bucks less plus’s the gloss black looks gooood

I got this for my 04 ram 2500 4x4 Cummins. I was really skeptical of quality before ordering. When I received it I was very impressed with boxing and how heavy it was. Definitely a huge difference in thickness of stock and this one. Took about an hour from start to finish installing. I think the hardest part was filling it with oil lol. The sight glass was great and the fill and drain plug are of top quality. Over all it looks great on the truck now I just need to get one for the front differential. Keep up the great work SpeLab so far I have your valve cover, your oil catch can , 5 “turbo back exhaust and your intercooler. All items are amazing quality and anytime I needed assistance with anything your techs were on it with a response.

Fits perfect with nice filler hole on top with easy drain plug. Looks nice also.

They say you get what you pay for in most cases but in this case I got my moneys worth and then some. Everything fit perfect, all the hardware was with it and it was packaged phenomenally. This is just as good if not better than the big name/super expensive ones. Now if I can only get a good deal on a delete kit this company will have my business the rest of my diesel career.
