Tools Required

  • 8mm wrench
  • 6mm wrench
  • 19mm wrench
  • 10mm quarter drive ratchet
  • Coolant drain pan
  • High-temp RTV sealant (not included in the kit)

Installation Procedure

  1. Step 1:
Disconnect the negative terminal on both batteries.
  2. Step 2:
Drain approximately 12 litres (that's about 3 US gallons) of coolant from both the hot and cold sides of the radiator. Turn the drain 90 degree counterclockwise, then pull outwards and turn an additional 90 degrees counterclockwise.
  3. Step 3:
Remove the longer egr pipe that is fastened with (5) 6 mm bolts using an 8mm wrench.
  4. Step 4:
Disconnect the quick connect coolant line from the metal stand pipe that is between the egr cooler and the intake manifold. Then use an 8mm wrench to remove the 6mm bolt buried under the tube.
  5. Step 5:
Remove the clamp, remove the hose, and use a 10mm quarter drive ratchet to pry the bolt out.
  6. Step 6:
Remove the bolts that secure the EGR system (one on each side).
  7. Step 7:
Push the red safety clip to disconnect, then push and pull to disconnect the black clip marked in the picture.
  8. Step 8:
    Disconnect the vacuum tube.
  9. Step 9:
Install the supplied vacuum hose cap.
  10. Step 10:
Remove the EGR cooler from the truck.
  11. Step 11:
Install the O-ring on the black air intake side baffle.
  12. Step 12:
Install the O-ring on the reverse side of the coolant baffle.
  13. Step 13:
Insert the probe adapter into the middle hole of the intake manifold block off plate and apply the sealant. Let it cure for an hour and tighten it with a 19mm wrench.
  14. Step 14:
Install the provided nuts onto the cooler pass through plate.
  15. Step 15:
Clean up the harness and install the cooler pass through plate. Make sure the plate holes match the bolts and secure with the three bolts we provide using a 6mm wrench.
  16. Step 16:
Use a 6mm wrench to secure the two bolts provided.
  17. Step 17:
The original washers and bolts are used here to secure the intake manifold block off plate.
  18. Step 18:
Put on two clamps and insert the copper column into the hose.
  19. Step 19:
Use a wrench to fix the clamp and connect the cooling hose.
