How RTD4 Works
Step 1 — Select Your Tuning Configuration
Choose between ECM Only and ECM + TCM tuning.
All available options include the RTD4 device and 5-Level SOTF Tune File(s).
Step 2 — Confirm Your Vehicle Information
Provide your VIN, model year, ECM/TCM information, existing modifications, and any relevant fault codes.
This information helps the tuning team confirm your vehicle's calibration requirements.
Step 3 — Connect the RTD4
Install the HP Tuners TDN App, complete the required account and device setup, and connect the RTD4 to your vehicle's OBD-II port.
Step 4 — Complete Module Preparation
Follow the provided instructions to complete any required ECM/TCM preparation or authorization.
For vehicles requiring E41 ECM OBD authorization or additional module preparation, the necessary steps must be completed before proceeding with tuning.
Step 5 — Read & Submit Your Current Calibration
Use the TDN App to read your vehicle's ECM or ECM/TCM calibration data and submit it for custom tune development.
Step 6 — Receive Your Custom Tune File
Your calibration data is reviewed, and the custom tune file is prepared according to your vehicle's software version and selected tuning requirements.
Files are typically delivered within 24 hours after the required calibration data is received. Complex custom requirements or special software versions may take longer.
Step 7 — Flash Your Vehicle
Follow the official instructions to write the custom calibration to your vehicle using the RTD4 and TDN App.
A suitable programming power supply is strongly recommended to maintain stable voltage throughout the flashing process.
Step 8 — Verify Vehicle Operation
After flashing, verify the programming result, check for fault codes, and confirm proper vehicle operation.
For SOTF tuning, verify the available power levels and switching functionality.
If any issues occur, collect the relevant fault codes, error messages, and data logs, then contact technical support for assistance.
