Intake Manifold FAQ

If you are simply upgrading the intake horn for better airflow, a tune is typically not required. However, if you are performing a Grid Heater Delete or EGR delete alongside the installation, tuning is required to prevent check engine codes.

The stock plastic manifold is prone to cracking and bursting, especially on trucks with higher mileage or tunes. Upgrading to a Cast Aluminum Manifold permanently solves this reliability issue and handles higher boost pressures safely.

A Dual-Plane manifold (like the SPELAB Typhoon series) is best for street use, offering better low-end torque and throttle response. A Single-Plane manifold is better for high-RPM racing applications.

By reducing the engine's pumping loss (it doesn't have to work as hard to suck in air), many drivers report a slight improvement in MPG during steady highway cruising, in addition to the power gains.
