What does a downpipe do?

The downpipe on your turbocharged vehicle is directing the exhaust gases out of the turbine housing into the exhaust system. An aftermarket downpipe will typically be larger in diameter and either uses a high-flowing catalytic converter or remove the catalytic converter altogether.

By removing the factory downpipe and replacing it with a high flowing unit you are allowing the turbo to more efficiently move gases away from the turbine which creates more power. Since the factory restrictions are now gone you can increase the boost on the vehicle as the factory downpipe is a choking point for performance.

This Catless GM Duramax 6.6L LML Diesel (V8 Turbo-Diesel) downpipe replaces the restrictive factory downpipes and removes the catalytic converter for maximum flow. Engineered for Chevrolet / GMC, it’s a direct bolt-on upgrade that delivers lower EGTs, sharper turbo response, and increased flow.

High quality pipe

The down pipe is very well made and is a better fit in the tight space it has all the sensor holes and it’s already wrapped it heat tape it seems to be very well made I am very pleased with this down pipe.

Very good part

Pipe is a great fit, kinda thin but has heat wrap on it. Only down side is all the threaded ports had to be rethreaded as nothing screwed in properly. Other than that, great delivery time and packaging. I would definitely buy again.

Great products fitment was nice. I opted for black because I don't like shiny but being an exhaust component the paint will burn off I knew this but incase you want to know it will burn off I will note that the downpipe heat wrapping could have been a little better but that's an easy adjustment with the clamps my biggest input on the downpipe would be that most people go to these when the truck is deleted and when it's deleted it doesn't use any of the sensors that go into the downpipe anymore so personally I was curious why they didn't just make it solid woth no bungs welded on because you then have those holes to plug woth something or the old sensor that is usually in the way or makes removing /installation more difficult

Great pipe but....

Great pipe! Was able to plug bungs with oil filter plugs. Only problem..... the bolts they sent with the pipe did not fit in the pipe! I bought 3 bolts from local hardware store so no biggie. Pipe looks great and is worth the money

Down-pipe.

Downpipe seemed to fit well. Could use better heat wrap job, had to re-wrap the upper portion of the heat wrap as it covered the lip that goes into the exhaust housing on the turbo. Besides that seems to be doing fine so far.
