Transmission System FAQS

SPELAB offers three transmission pans: the 6R140 pan for 2011–2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke, the 5R110 pan for 2003–2010 Ford 6.0L/6.4L Powerstroke, and the AS69RC pan for 2013–2024 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 6.7L Cummins. Each is a direct replacement with added fluid capacity.

Factory transmission pans hold minimal fluid volume, causing rapid heat buildup under towing loads. An upgraded deep pan adds 2–3 extra quarts of fluid, lowers operating temperature by 20–40°F, and extends transmission service life — critical for trucks towing near GVWR regularly.

The factory thermal bypass valve on the 2013–2024 Ram AS69RC can stick closed, blocking transmission oil flow to the cooler and causing overheating. The SPELAB replacement ($69.99) opens at proper temperature and flows consistently, preventing the stuck-closed failure common on high-mileage trucks.

The Transmission Line Kit for 2011–2016 Ford 6.7L/6R140 replaces the factory cooler lines prone to cracking and leaking near the radiator fittings. The upgraded stainless-braided lines handle higher fluid pressures and are rated for tow-duty use.

The SPELAB Performance Transmission Cooler Line Kit for 2006–2010 Duramax LBZ/LMM is designed for the Allison 1000 automatic transmission only. It is not applicable to manual transmission configurations.

The AS69RC Transmission Pan for 2013–2024 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 6.7L is currently listed as out of stock. Contact SPELAB directly or use the product page's back-in-stock notification to be alerted when inventory is available.

Most 6.7L Powerstroke owners performing a transmission service at 60,000–100,000 miles opt to upgrade the pan simultaneously. It adds minimal labor cost when the pan is already off. For trucks that tow frequently, upgrading at the first service is recommended.
