FAQS

The headers in this collection fit the naturally aspirated 5.4L Triton (1997–2004 F-150/F-250/Expedition). They are not designed for the supercharged SVT variant. Confirm your specific engine configuration before ordering — supercharged applications require dedicated headers with different port sizing.

The shorty header ($204) replaces only the factory manifold and is easier to install with fewer clearance issues. The long-tube version ($249) routes further back for greater scavenging effect and more mid-range torque gain, but requires more fitment work — especially on 4WD trucks.

The 1997–2003 shorty header fits both F-150 and F-250 trucks, as well as Ford Expedition with the 5.4L V8. Verify your model year and 2WD/4WD configuration — driver-side header fitment can vary between cab styles and drivetrains.

No tune is strictly required for a naturally aspirated 5.4L header swap, but a custom tune improves throttle mapping to match the new exhaust flow. Most owners report a noticeable improvement in mid-range pull and exhaust note without tuning.

Possibly, if the header relocates or removes an oxygen sensor bung. Ensure the replacement header includes O2 sensor ports in the factory locations. If a downstream sensor is eliminated, an O2 spacer or tune may be needed to prevent a P0420 lean code.

Expect 10–20 hp and a slight torque improvement with a shorty header on the NA 5.4L Triton. Gains are most noticeable above 3,500 RPM. Combining with a cold air intake and throttle body spacer maximizes the benefit.
