6.7 Cummins Intake Horn FAQS

Yes. SPELAB’s intake manifold products are designed to fit 2007–2024 Dodge Ram 2500 and 3500 models equipped with the 6.7L diesel engine. Except for the Intake Horn, which does not fit Cab & Chassis models, all products are engineered for high compatibility and straightforward installation.

The 3.5'' engine intake manifold is built for high-flow performance and does not include a pre-drilled port for the intake manifold pressure sensor. If sensor installation is needed, a custom port must be drilled, preferably by a professional.

Upgrading to a SPELAB air intake manifold can deliver noticeable improvements in airflow, throttle response, fuel efficiency, and reduced EGT (Exhaust Gas Temperatures). Many users report increased pulling power and more consistent performance under load.

Deleting the grid heater removes the OEM cold-start heating system. If you drive in very cold environments, we recommend adding a coil heater to maintain reliable cold starts after the delete.

Yes. SPELAB intake products—such as the intake horn—are designed to work seamlessly with our EGR Delete Kits. The interfaces align perfectly, offering smooth performance without triggering errors or fitment issues.

Some products, like the Intake Horn, are DIY-friendly and include clear installation guides. However, tasks like sensor port drilling or Grid Heater removal may require a professional technician to ensure proper sealing and safe operation.

In some cases, installing non-OEM parts may affect specific portions of your factory warranty. We recommend checking with your dealer and keeping your stock parts for future service needs.

No. A tune is not strictly required for a basic intake manifold or intake horn upgrade. However, if the manifold is installed together with a Grid Heater Delete, EGR Delete, larger turbo, or performance tune, custom tuning may help maximize airflow benefits, throttle response, and overall drivability.

The factory grid heater helps warm incoming air for cold starts. Some 6.7L Cummins owners choose a Grid Heater Delete to improve airflow and reduce potential failure risks related to OEM grid heater hardware. For trucks used in cold climates, adding a coil heater or block heater is recommended to maintain reliable cold-start performance.

Aluminum intake manifolds are lightweight and provide good heat dissipation, making them a popular choice for street-driven diesel trucks. Stainless-steel intake components offer excellent durability and corrosion resistance, making them suitable for heavy-duty or high-heat applications. Choosing the right material depends on your truck’s use, performance goals, and operating conditions.
