Which LML Duramax Delete Kit Should You Choose?
For 2011–2016 LML Duramax trucks, the right delete kit depends on your exact production year and the components you want included. Some LML kits are designed for 2011–2015 trucks, while others are made for 2015.5–2016 models. Before choosing a kit, confirm whether your truck needs a 2011–2015 LML setup, a 2015.5–2016 LML setup, or a broader 2011–2016 compatible package.
- Basic LML delete setup: Best for buyers mainly comparing EGR and DPF-related upgrades.
- LML delete kit with tuner: Better for users who need tuning support included with the hardware package.
- Full LML all-in-one delete kit: Best for buyers looking for a more complete EGR, DPF, DEF, CCV, exhaust, and tuner-based setup.
If you are searching for the best delete kit for LML Duramax, start with fitment first, then compare tuner support, exhaust configuration, muffler options, and included components.

Because the L5P platform uses more advanced electronics than earlier Duramax generations, choosing the correct year range is especially important.
Depending on the product configuration, an L5P Duramax delete kit may include EGR, DPF, DEF, CCV, exhaust, and tuner-related components. Some L5P products are listed for 2017–2025 hardware fitment, while certain OBDII tuner options may only support 2017–2023 L5P trucks. Always review the individual product fitment before ordering.

What Are EGR, DPF, CCV, and DEF?
When shopping for a Duramax delete kit, it’s important to understand what each component actually does. Here’s a breakdown of the most essential terms:
- EGR Delete: The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system is designed to reduce emissions by recirculating exhaust gases into the intake. However, it often leads to carbon buildup and reduced performance. Deleting the EGR helps improve combustion efficiency and keeps your engine cleaner.
- DPF Delete: The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) traps soot and particles but can restrict exhaust flow and increase backpressure. A DPF delete opens up the exhaust system for better horsepower and improved flow.
- CCV Delete: The CCV (Crankcase Ventilation) system can cause oil vapor to re-enter the intake, contaminating it over time. A CCV delete reroutes this system to reduce oil buildup and extend engine life.
- DEF Delete: DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) is used in the SCR system to reduce NOx emissions. While important for emissions compliance, deleting DEF eliminates the need for constant refills and is intended strictly for off-road use.
SPELAB strongly emphasizes that all Duramax delete kit products are intended for off-road, racing, or closed-course use only. Customers must comply with local emissions laws and EPA regulations. Using non-compliant equipment on public roads may be illegal.

I was hesitant with a delete because I’m not a fan of loud sound, but the muffler works fantastic. Sounds nearly stock at cruising and idle with the muffler and I love it
Love spelab products diff cover is so mint the charge air cooler pipes look sick and the rad shroud pops when you open the hood Looking at other products but seem to be unavailable at the moment 🤘
These guys are great. They have fast shipping and their product is great. I wish they had more parts for my truck but they cant make them all i suppose. They added quite a bit of HP to my build. It turned out great
Best investment i bought and proud to have from SPELAB
Instructions were great, could
Be more detailed but overall great product, install wasn’t bad at all, unfortunately snapped oil dipstick tube following instructions but other than that I would say the plugs in the intake could’ve been put in prior rather than leaving room for install error
Very nice
Good products great pricing
Works great, find out how to wire it on YouTube if you aren’t sure, super easy though only two wires
this 2017 3500 Ram with now 111274 miles was used by PO to pull 5th wheel and now it pulls a 30 ft airstream TT.. I change out fluid at 96K with OEM cover and started looking for replacement.. this is great with magnetic drain plugs which is a great help as we change out oil every 35K miles as we tow a lot..
This new alum cover with fins is much like the AAM unit used on teh HO engines from factory with not quite the amount of and placement of fins but in the end this accomplished the goal of keeping the fluid cooler especially when towing.
One thing i did notice was the no actual instruction on what was proper level of oil in sight glass.. Usually on OEM cover you fill till the oil dribbles out the fill plug on cover and that if good..
on this model I noticed the sight glass was lower than the OEM plug determining the level need to be not the middle of the sight glass but at the TOP of the sight glass.. just saying.. the inside has fluid diversion fins so help move the oil to ponion gear and the side bearing on housing..
The fit and finish are great and it looks super cool now in the alum color.. I though about spray painting and sanding the edge of the fins to have that nice contrast but left it silver.
highly recommend and the price is right..
Order came in a few days earlier than the expected delivery day pretty easy install it makes the engine may look a lot better
I purchased a pair of Spelab Electric Cutouts for my BMW. Everything in the kit was shipped quickly, was perfectly packaged and the quality of their product is top notch. I installed the cutouts and I couldn't happier with the way they work. I was even able to pair the remote to the Homelink buttons to open and close the valves.
Hoping to gain a sponsorship soon I use yalls parts on my personal build and customers builds
Very good quality kit and was easy to install!! I highly recommend it!!
Excellent quality product that definitely delivers a difference in throttle response. You can tell that the engine is breathing much better. I highly recommend this to everyone out there. Shipping was fast too!! And to top it off, the dreaded engine killing grid heater plate is gone for good! Look how bad the grid heater was after only 46,000 mi. You can barely see thru the grids. Ridiculous design by Cummins/Ram. They should be ashamed for putting that piece of junk on such a good engine. Next up, turbo tubes!
Fit my 08 6.4 extended cab just fine. Sounds great with a 5x7 tip
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. In most Duramax delete setups, a tuner is needed to recalibrate the ECU and help prevent warning lights or limp mode after EGR, DPF, or DEF-related modifications.
Tuner compatibility depends on your engine platform and model year, so always confirm whether the kit includes a tuner and whether it supports your exact L5P, LML, LMM, or LLY truck before ordering.
Choose based on how much control you want over tuning and power levels.
A V2 tuner is usually better for basic tuning needs, while a V3 tuner may support more advanced setups.
SOTF, or Switch On The Fly, is useful for drivers who want to switch between power levels without reflashing each time.
Before choosing, confirm that the tuner supports your exact Duramax engine and model year.
No. SPELAB Duramax delete kits are intended for off-road, racing, or closed-course use only.
They are not intended for street-legal applications or vehicles required to meet emissions regulations. Customers are responsible for checking and following all local, state, and federal emissions laws before purchase or installation.
Some Duramax delete kits may be installed by experienced DIY users with the proper tools, but installation difficulty depends on your engine platform and kit configuration. Older LLY or LMM setups may be simpler, while newer L5P delete kits are usually more complex and may require professional installation, tuning knowledge, and careful fitment checks.
The best Duramax delete kit depends on your truck’s model year, engine platform, and required components. L5P owners should confirm 2017–2025 fitment and tuner compatibility, while LML owners should check whether their truck is a 2011–2015 or 2015.5–2016 model.
A full all-in-one kit is usually the better choice for buyers who want EGR, DPF, DEF, CCV, exhaust, and tuner-related components in one package.
For 2017–2025 L5P Duramax trucks, choose an L5P-specific kit and confirm the exact year range on the product page. Some hardware options may support 2017–2025 trucks, while certain tuner options may only support narrower year ranges, such as 2017–2023.
For 2011–2016 LML Duramax trucks, confirm whether your truck falls into the 2011–2015 or 2015.5–2016 fitment range.
LML buyers commonly compare kits based on EGR, DPF, DEF, CCV, exhaust, and tuner-related components.
A full Duramax delete kit may include combinations of EGR, DPF, DEF, CCV, exhaust, and tuner-related components, depending on the engine platform and product configuration.
Always check the individual product page to confirm exactly what is included before ordering.
A 4-inch exhaust kit is often chosen for balanced fitment and sound, while a 5-inch exhaust kit is commonly selected by buyers who want a deeper exhaust tone and a larger exhaust layout.
The best choice depends on your truck, sound preference, installation space, and product compatibility.
