A: The BD kit is a DIY modification—you have to physically disassemble and modify your old, dirty factory heater grid. The SPELAB kit is a complete, pre-assembled replacement part. You simply unbolt your old plate, bolt ours on, and you are done. It is much faster, cleaner, and easier.

Q: My truck is a 2021 (Gen 5). Didn't Ram fix this issue?
A: Ram shortened the bolt and added thread locker on Gen 5 models, which reduced the failure rate. However, the risk of a dropped bolt still exists, especially on tuned trucks, high-mileage trucks, or trucks subjected to heavy towing vibrations.
