V-band Kits
A V-band kit, often referred to as a V-band clamp and flange kit, is an assembly of components used in various applications, particularly in the automotive and industrial sectors. This type of connection is commonly used in exhaust systems, turbochargers, intercoolers, and other components where a secure and easily detachable joint is required.
Here are the key components typically found in a V-band kit:
| V-Band Flanges | These are circular or semi-circular pieces that are welded to the ends of the pipes or components you want to join. They have a protruding lip that fits into the V-band clamp. |
| V-Band Clamps | These are designed to hold the flanges together, creating a tight and leak-free connection. V-band clamps are typically equipped with a tensioning bolt that can be tightened to create the necessary pressure for a secure joint. |
| Fasteners | The tensioning bolt or fastener is used to tighten the V-band clamp around the flanges, creating a sealed connection. |
| Gaskets | Some V-band kits include gaskets made of heat-resistant and durable materials. These gaskets help create a reliable seal between the two flanges, reducing the risk of leaks. |

Sounds great, had all the hardware good quality metal and was easy to install only con was had to take off the spare tire to install.
Main challenges are removing and sealing the factory crankcase-breather hoses, then transferring the factory O-ring without stretching or mis-seating it. Cap every disconnected factory port/tube correctly, lift the old cover straight up, keep debris out, and route the new breather hose safely—zip-tied away from moving/hot parts. Start all six bolts by hand, tighten from the center outward, and use only 4–8 ft-lb. Be gentle to avoid scratching anodized covers.
Good quality and half the big brands price love itttttt
Great company and great products i was referred by a friend
Definitely a noticable difference over stock, and looks better as well!
I used a different oil catch can because it was “cheaper”. It just made a mess of my engine compartment. It couldn’t handle the pressure of the Cummins. Should have gotten this one in the first place. You get what you pay for! I have alot of SPELAB parts in my truck should have known better. Love the setup, easy to do yourself and now I don’t have to worry about it ever again. Set it and forget it! Love SPELAB!! Set up looks amazing!!!
The kit came quickly and wasn’t missing everything. The finish of the billet parts it nice and so is the powder on the pipe. Drove 2000 plus miles with with on and have had zero issues.
Loved the kit good fit and finish and easy to install. The little extraction tool helped immensely for that pesky bolt on the back. I purchased this kit because of the good reviews and I seen one on a 2018 Chevy Duramax that had been fully deleted and was asking the owner questions about the kit and where he bought it, he said SPELAB it was well worth the money and made it easier to put oil in the truck and yes does make it a lot easier to fill the engine with oil and if the old plastic ccv system cracks do to heat and and age it pushes oil on the engine and could cause a fire so it was well worth the money and piece of mind. So if you are looking for a CCV reroute kit I highly recommend this kit.
do not treat head studs like ordinary bolts. Clean and chase every block thread, verify hole depth and any fluid passages, then apply the supplied assembly lubricant only where specified—especially on nut and washer contact surfaces.
Took the gamble on these. Ive installed arp studs for customers and I did these in my truck. Few thousand miles now and no issues. I can’t say they are better than arp but I can say they are just as good for just half of the price.
Coolant Reservoir for 2011-2019 Ford 6.7L Powerstroke Coolant Overflow Tank | SPELAB
Good quality coolant tank with fair price!
First off I purchased this intake horn/w grid heater relocation because of the price and the heating element came as a kit. I am not a truck mechanic and this part wasn't very easy for me to swap out. The parts were shipped extremely fast and well packaged this intake horn was installed in conjunction with Spelab's rid heater delete kit. I was also nervous to do this swap myself because I haven't messed with any of these parts previously. But Praise God I was able to take everything apart and install the new parts without any issues. The videos were alright also looked up a few videos on YouTube to get a better idea of what I was up against before I started. Overall Spelab has been a great experience, all the parts were very nice looking and well made. I will definitely do business with Spelab in the future. I am considering doing the head stud kit.
Works great on my 08 f250, thank you spelab!
Billet Aluminum Valve Cover for 2008-2010 Ford F250 F350 F450 F550 6.4L Powerstroke | SPELAB
It’s an exhaust not really much to screw up. Exactly what I thought it would be.
Frequently Asked Questions
A V-band kit is a precision exhaust connection using interlocking male and female flanges secured by a high-tensile steel V-shaped clamp. It provides a leak-free seal at higher clamping forces than traditional U-bolt clamps, handles rapid heat cycles without loosening, and allows quick removal without cutting. V-band kits are the standard connection method for turbo outlets, DPF delete junctions, and performance headers on diesel trucks.
Match the V-band size to your exhaust pipe's outer diameter. SPELAB V-band kits are available in 2.0", 2.25", and 2.5" sizes. Measure your pipe OD with a caliper—if your downpipe is 3", you need a 3" V-band assembly, not a 2.5". Mismatched sizing is the number one installation mistake. Note that some turbo outlets use specific flange patterns (not just diameter), so confirm both the pipe size and the mating flange type before ordering.
Stainless steel V-band clamps resist corrosion, maintain clamping force under repeated heat cycles, and won't rust solid in wet or salted road conditions. SPELAB V-band kits use 304 stainless steel construction. For a daily-driven diesel in any climate, stainless is worth the small price premium. For race-only vehicles where weight matters, mild steel saves cost but sacrifices corrosion resistance—stick with stainless for anything that sees regular street use.
Inspect V-band clamps at every major service interval (every oil change or annual). Signs of wear include visible scoring on the clamp band, a loose feel at the flange joint, or an exhaust leak (his near the connection). Under normal street use, quality stainless V-bands last 5–10 years. In heavy towing or racing applications with frequent heat cycling, replace every 2–3 years as a preventive measure to avoid a mid-trip exhaust leak.
Yes. V-band connections are designed for bolt-up installation—welding is not required. The interlocking flanges bolt together with the V-band clamp, creating a secure seal without any cutting or welding. This makes V-band kits ideal for DIY fabricators who want a professional-grade connection that can be removed for maintenance. For turbo-to-downpipe connections on the 6.4L or 6.7L Powerstroke, V-band kits let you swap components without a torch or welding equipment.
