A Be-Cut (Bolt-On Exhaust Cutout) is a no-weld, bolt-on exhaust cutout that clamps directly onto your existing exhaust pipe without cutting or welding the factory pipe. Regular cutouts require cutting the exhaust pipe and welding the sleeve in place—Be-Cut eliminates that step entirely, making it a true DIY bolt-on. SPELAB Be-Cut kits come in 2.0", 2.25", 2.5", and 3.0" sizes, with remote electric or manual switch options for in-cab control.

No—that's the key advantage of the Be-Cut design. Unlike traditional weld-on cutouts that require cutting and welding a sleeve into the exhaust pipe, the Be-Cut kit clamps over the existing pipe using heavy-duty V-band or U-bolt clamps. Simply loosen the clamp, slide the Be-Cut assembly onto the pipe, and tighten. This makes it fully reversible and ideal for renters, leased vehicles, or anyone not comfortable with welding. Note that bolt-on seals are slightly less secure than welded seals under extreme vibration.

Single cutout kits (2.0" or 2.25") are designed for single-exhaust vehicles—most trucks and daily drivers. Dual cutout kits (2.0"–3.0") are required for dual-exhaust setups to balance exhaust flow across both pipes and avoid backpressure imbalance. Installing a single cutout on a dual-exhaust vehicle will make the open side flow freely while the closed side creates backpressure—the result is an uneven, less effective exhaust cutout experience. Choose dual for any V8 or diesel dual-exhaust application.

Match the Be-Cut size to your exhaust pipe's outer diameter. For most naturally aspirated and mildly modified 4-cylinder and V6 engines, 2.0"–2.5" is sufficient. For V8s and modified turbos, choose 2.5"–3.0". Going one size up is safe for future-proofing; going too small creates a flow restriction and defeats the performance purpose. Measure your pipe diameter before ordering—if you're between sizes, round up.

Laws vary by state and municipality. In most US jurisdictions, the Be-Cut is legal for off-road use but may violate DOT noise and emissions regulations when open on public roads—similar to regular exhaust cutouts. Some states with strict noise laws prohibit open cutouts entirely. The best practice: run the Be-Cut closed on public roads, open it at the track or on private property. Always verify your local regulations before installing.
