Match the cutout size to your exhaust pipe diameter. 2.0"–2.5" suits most 4-cylinder and V6 engines; 3.0" is best for V8s and heavily modified turbo setups. Going oversized is fine for future-proofing, but undersizing creates a bottleneck. If unsure, measure your pipe diameter with a caliper before ordering.

Yes—drone is the most common complaint. When the cutout bypasses the muffler at steady highway RPMs (1,500–2,200), certain frequencies resonate through the cabin. Minimize drone by installing the cutout farther back in the exhaust, choosing dual setups, or selecting a No-Drone kit designed for diesel trucks.

SPELAB electric cutouts use a wireless remote switch or dashboard-mounted toggle for in-cab control. Single cutouts have one valve and switch; dual kits allow independent or simultaneous control. Remote range covers the vehicle interior. Replacement switches and wire harnesses are available separately if needed.

Welded installation is permanent and leak-free—best for race applications. Clamp-on uses heavy-duty V-band or U-bolt clamps, allowing removal or repositioning—ideal for street vehicles or if you may switch vehicles. Both are reliable when installed correctly with high-temp sealant on gaskets.

Laws vary by state. In most US states, cutouts are legal off-road but may violate street noise and emissions laws if they bypass required muffler equipment. Some states like California restrict open cutouts on public roads. Always check local DOT regulations before driving on public roads with the cutout open.
