Duramax EGR Delete Kits for L5P, LML, LMM, LBZ & LLY
Find the Right Duramax EGR Delete Kit by Engine Code
Choosing the right Duramax EGR delete kit starts with your engine code and model year. SPELAB offers fitment-focused options for 2004–2005 LLY, 2006–2007 LBZ, 2007.5–2010 LMM, 2011–2016 LML, and 2017–2025 L5P Duramax trucks.
For most buyers, the key question is not simply “which EGR delete kit is best,” but which kit matches the truck’s year, engine layout, tuning needs, and install goal. Use the guide below to compare basic EGR-only kits, EGR with intake upgrades, and full delete combinations for off-road or competition use.
The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system routes hot exhaust gases back into the intake to reduce NOx emissions. While this may satisfy emissions standards, it comes at a cost: increased carbon buildup, higher intake temperatures, and reduced engine longevity—especially under heavy towing or performance use.
Because EGR-related carbon buildup and higher intake temperatures can affect long-term reliability, many Duramax owners view an EGR delete not only as a performance upgrade, but also as a preventative maintenance strategy for off-road builds.
By installing a SPELAB Duramax EGR delete kit, you remove the restrictive EGR valve and cooler, allowing fresh, cool air to enter the combustion chamber.
Depending on your model and configuration, SPELAB EGR delete kits can be installed as standalone upgrades or combined with intake kits, up pipes, or even a tuner for optimal gains. For example, on a 2011 Duramax LML 6.6L, deleting the EGR alone can reduce intake temps by up to 80°F, and when paired with tuning, gains of up to +100 HP are possible.
Whether you drive a 2008 LMM Duramax, a 2004 LLY, or a 2020+ L5P, SPELAB has precision-fit solutions to help you take control of your engine’s airflow and performance. For off-road enthusiasts, deleting the EGR system is the first step in building a cleaner, cooler, more responsive Duramax.

Which Duramax EGR Delete Kit Fits Your Truck?
Select the EGR delete kit according to your Duramax engine model, model year, intake layout, and tuning requirements. The guide below helps you quickly match the right SPELAB kit to your truck before ordering.
2004–2005 LLY Duramax EGR Delete Kit
For 2004–2005 LLY Duramax trucks, buyers should confirm the EGR layout, intake connection style, and whether a high-flow intake elbow is included. This is the main fitment group behind searches like “LLY EGR delete kit” and “2005 Duramax EGR delete kit.”
2006–2007 LBZ Duramax EGR Delete Kit
For 2006–2007 LBZ Duramax trucks, an EGR delete kit is usually selected by year, intake elbow configuration, and whether the buyer wants a basic block-off solution or a kit with improved airflow parts. This section supports searches like “LBZ EGR delete kit,” “LBZ delete kit,” and “LBZ Duramax delete kit.”
2007.5–2010 LMM Duramax EGR Delete Kit
For 2007.5–2010 LMM Duramax trucks, many owners compare EGR-only kits with EGR and intake pipe combinations. LMM trucks are also commonly cross-shopped with DPF-related upgrades, so fitment and tuning requirements should be checked before purchase.
2011–2016 LML Duramax EGR Delete Kit
For 2011–2016 LML Duramax trucks, buyers often search for the best LML delete kit because this generation is commonly paired with tuning, intake upgrades, or all-in-one delete combinations. Before choosing a kit, confirm your exact model year, included hardware, and whether tuning support is required.
2017–2025 L5P Duramax EGR Delete Kit
For 2017–2025 L5P Duramax trucks, electronic compatibility matters more than on older platforms. Check whether the kit requires CAN bus support, tuning, or additional installation steps before ordering.
2015–2022 LWN 2.8L Duramax EGR Delete Kit
For 2015–2022 LWN 2.8L Duramax trucks, confirm that your vehicle uses the 2.8L diesel platform before choosing a kit. LWN fitment is different from 6.6L Duramax engines, so it should not be mixed with LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML, or L5P kits.
Duramax EGR Delete vs Powerstroke & Cummins
While we’ve established in the first section that deleting the EGR system on a Duramax diesel improves airflow, lowers intake temps, and reduces carbon buildup, it's just as important to understand how that process differs from other diesel engines like Powerstroke and Cummins.
When modifying a 6.6L Duramax engine, especially from 2007.5 to 2023, users must consider the tighter packaging of components, the sensitivity of ECM calibrations, and the integration of emission systems like DPF and DEF. That’s why EGR Delete Kits for Duramax, especially on LML and L5P models, often include CAN Bus plugs, reroute hardware, or tuning interfaces to prevent DTCs or limp mode.
By contrast:
-
Powerstroke EGR deletes, such as for the 6.0L or 6.7L, often involve bulkier systems with integrated oil coolers, requiring complex coolant rerouting.
-
Cummins 6.7L deletes may seem more modular, but usually require simultaneous CCV deletes, grid heater deletes, or manifold upgrades to avoid performance bottlenecks.
In short, while all three engines benefit from EGR removal, the Duramax system demands more precision—and that’s exactly where SPELAB’s vehicle-specific kits shine. With model-specific designs for the 2005 Duramax LLY, 2011 LML, and 2020+ L5P, users get tailored components that simplify installation and ensure reliability across all stages of modification.
So if you're planning a delete project, knowing how your engine compares is critical—not just for performance gains, but for ease of installation, long-term durability, and avoiding unnecessary tuning errors.
What Happens After Duramax EGR Delete?
Removing the EGR system on your Duramax 6.6L diesel isn't just removing a faulty component, it changes the way your truck breathes, responds, and performs. Especially when paired with the right intake, tuner, or exhaust system upgrade.
Intake Temperature Drops
Without hot exhaust gases recirculating into the intake, air entering the combustion chamber is significantly cooler.
-
On a 2011 Duramax LML, EGR delete alone can lower intake temps by up to 80°F
-
Cooler air = more oxygen density = more efficient combustion = better power output
Improved Throttle Response and Spool Time
The absence of carbon buildup and restrictive valves leads to faster turbo spool and crisper acceleration, particularly noticeable when towing or climbing.
-
Drivers report 10–15% better responsiveness after deleting EGR on LMM/LML Duramax models
-
When combined with an upgraded up pipe or intercooler pipe, turbo lag is further reduced
Horsepower and Torque Gains
While EGR delete alone doesn’t boost raw horsepower, it lays the foundation for safe tuning. When paired with a SPELAB-supported Duramax delete tuner:
-
Gain up to +100 HP on a 2016 Duramax LML
-
Achieve up to 150 HP gains when running a full EGR+DPF+Tuner+Intake combo on a 2020 L5P Duramax
Reduced Maintenance and Carbon Build-Up
One of the most underrated benefits of EGR delete is engine cleanliness:
-
Fewer emissions-related codes
-
Cleaner intake runners
-
Extended turbo and head gasket lifespan
Whether you're chasing numbers or just want your 2015 Duramax 6.6L to run smoother and cooler under load, SPELAB’s delete kits give you measurable, real-world benefits—backed by consistent performance data and real enthusiast results.
Compare Duramax EGR Delete Kit Options by Driving Need
Not every Duramax owner needs the same delete setup. The right choice depends on your engine code, model year, tuning requirements, installation experience, and how you use the truck. Use the comparison below to decide whether an EGR-only kit, intake combo, or full delete package makes the most sense for your build.
| Kit Type | Best For | Typical Buyer | What to Check Before Buying |
|---|---|---|---|
| EGR Delete Only | Basic EGR removal, reduced soot buildup, and simpler engine bay maintenance | DIY beginners, weekend truck owners, and older LLY/LBZ/LMM Duramax owners | Engine code, model year, included block-off plates, gaskets, hoses, and cooler bypass parts |
| EGR + Intake Kit | Cleaner airflow, better throttle response, and less intake restriction | Daily drivers and towing trucks that want a more complete airflow upgrade without a full exhaust setup | Intake elbow fitment, pipe layout, sensor locations, and whether the kit matches your Duramax generation |
| EGR + Intake + Up Pipe | Improved airflow support, lower restriction, and stronger performance foundation for heavy-load use | Owners who tow frequently, drive under load, or are building an off-road performance Duramax | Up-pipe compatibility, exhaust layout, install difficulty, and whether additional tuning is required |
| DPF + EGR + Tuner Combo | Full off-road or competition-use delete setup with broader system control | LML and L5P owners who want a complete delete package rather than a basic EGR-only kit | Tuner compatibility, emissions legality, complete kit contents, tuning credits, and whether the truck is for off-road use only |
| CAN Bus Plug / Electronic Support | Electronic compatibility on newer Duramax platforms | L5P owners or buyers working with newer electronically sensitive trucks | CAN bus support, ECM/tuning compatibility, DTC prevention, and product-page fitment notes |
For most first-time buyers, an EGR delete only kit is the simplest starting point. If you tow, daily drive under load, or want better airflow response, an EGR + intake setup may be a better match. For LML and L5P owners planning a full off-road build, compare complete DPF + EGR + tuner combinations and confirm all tuning and legal requirements before ordering.

I was hesitant with a delete because I’m not a fan of loud sound, but the muffler works fantastic. Sounds nearly stock at cruising and idle with the muffler and I love it
Love spelab products diff cover is so mint the charge air cooler pipes look sick and the rad shroud pops when you open the hood Looking at other products but seem to be unavailable at the moment 🤘
These guys are great. They have fast shipping and their product is great. I wish they had more parts for my truck but they cant make them all i suppose. They added quite a bit of HP to my build. It turned out great
Best investment i bought and proud to have from SPELAB
Instructions were great, could
Be more detailed but overall great product, install wasn’t bad at all, unfortunately snapped oil dipstick tube following instructions but other than that I would say the plugs in the intake could’ve been put in prior rather than leaving room for install error
Very nice
Good products great pricing
Works great, find out how to wire it on YouTube if you aren’t sure, super easy though only two wires
this 2017 3500 Ram with now 111274 miles was used by PO to pull 5th wheel and now it pulls a 30 ft airstream TT.. I change out fluid at 96K with OEM cover and started looking for replacement.. this is great with magnetic drain plugs which is a great help as we change out oil every 35K miles as we tow a lot..
This new alum cover with fins is much like the AAM unit used on teh HO engines from factory with not quite the amount of and placement of fins but in the end this accomplished the goal of keeping the fluid cooler especially when towing.
One thing i did notice was the no actual instruction on what was proper level of oil in sight glass.. Usually on OEM cover you fill till the oil dribbles out the fill plug on cover and that if good..
on this model I noticed the sight glass was lower than the OEM plug determining the level need to be not the middle of the sight glass but at the TOP of the sight glass.. just saying.. the inside has fluid diversion fins so help move the oil to ponion gear and the side bearing on housing..
The fit and finish are great and it looks super cool now in the alum color.. I though about spray painting and sanding the edge of the fins to have that nice contrast but left it silver.
highly recommend and the price is right..
Order came in a few days earlier than the expected delivery day pretty easy install it makes the engine may look a lot better
I purchased a pair of Spelab Electric Cutouts for my BMW. Everything in the kit was shipped quickly, was perfectly packaged and the quality of their product is top notch. I installed the cutouts and I couldn't happier with the way they work. I was even able to pair the remote to the Homelink buttons to open and close the valves.
Hoping to gain a sponsorship soon I use yalls parts on my personal build and customers builds
Very good quality kit and was easy to install!! I highly recommend it!!
Excellent quality product that definitely delivers a difference in throttle response. You can tell that the engine is breathing much better. I highly recommend this to everyone out there. Shipping was fast too!! And to top it off, the dreaded engine killing grid heater plate is gone for good! Look how bad the grid heater was after only 46,000 mi. You can barely see thru the grids. Ridiculous design by Cummins/Ram. They should be ashamed for putting that piece of junk on such a good engine. Next up, turbo tubes!
Fit my 08 6.4 extended cab just fine. Sounds great with a 5x7 tip
