Duramax DPF Delete Dual
What Is the SPELAB DPF Back Dual Exhaust System?
Among diesel truck owners looking to boost both performance and visual style, the SPELAB DPF Back Dual Exhaust System has become a go-to upgrade. This system starts from the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) and features a true dual-exit exhaust setup, specifically designed for the 2011–2016 LML 6.6L Duramax and 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax platforms. Compared to traditional single-exit exhausts, SPELAB's dual configuration improves exhaust flow while delivering a bolder, more aggressive look for trucks like the Chevy Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 3500HD.
How does it work? By replacing the exhaust section after the DPF and splitting the flow into two outlets, this design significantly reduces backpressure, enhances turbo response, and lowers Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs). Whether you're cruising with a 5 inch DPF back dual exhaust or upgrading for sound, flow, or pure visual appeal, both LML and L5P Duramax platforms benefit from cleaner flow and louder, deeper tones.
Why Choose Dual Over Single Exhaust?
For owners of the 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax or 2011–2016 LML Duramax, upgrading to the SPELAB 5 inch DPF back dual exhaust system is about more than just looks. Structurally, a dual-exit system provides a more balanced release of hot exhaust gases—critical when towing heavy loads or driving in high-altitude off-road conditions. Compared to traditional single-outlet designs, the dual layout offers greater exhaust surface area, reducing turbo backpressure and optimizing the output efficiency of your Duramax 6.6L diesel engine.
You’ll also notice a much deeper and fuller exhaust note, especially when paired with a SPELAB DPF back dual kit and 5-inch tips. On full-size diesel trucks like the Chevy Silverado 3500HD, this delivers not only better sound but a more aggressive and symmetrical rear-end aesthetic—exactly what performance-focused truck enthusiasts love.
SPELAB Dual Exhaust Fitment Guide for Duramax Platforms
The SPELAB DPF back dual exhaust system is precisely engineered for two of the most popular Duramax platforms: the 2011–2016 LML 6.6L Duramax and the 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax. These engines are featured in legendary heavy-duty trucks like the GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD and Chevy Silverado 2500HD/3500HD, known for their power, reliability, and mod-friendly design. Depending on your model year, SPELAB offers both a standard DPF-back option and a more advanced Downpipe-back dual setup to match your performance needs.
For newer L5P 6.6L Duramax owners, the DPF-back dual exhaust is a perfect mid-level upgrade—it enhances airflow and tone without altering emissions systems. Meanwhile, LML Duramax drivers can unlock maximum power with the Downpipe-back Dual kit, especially when paired with an EGR delete and tuner. Both setups are crafted from heavy-duty T409 stainless steel, ensuring strength, durability, and easy bolt-on installation using factory mounts.
Sound and Style: The 5-Inch Dual Makes a Statement
One of the biggest transformations when upgrading to a 5 inch DPF back dual exhaust is the sound. Compared to restrictive factory exhausts, SPELAB’s 5-inch dual setup unleashes a deeper, throatier diesel rumble—especially noticeable on 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax and 2011–2016 LML Duramax platforms. When you're driving a GMC Sierra 3500HD at highway speeds, that rich tone resonates with every throttle press—it’s not just heard, it's felt.
SPELAB offers a range of dual exhaust tip finishes—from brushed black and polished stainless steel to carbon fiber sleeves—so Chevy Silverado 2500HD owners can match performance with personal style. These oversized tips don’t just look aggressive; they help maximize airflow at the rear exits. When paired with a LML DPF delete kit, this exhaust setup delivers a synchronized burst of power and sound that enhances every drive.
Proven Performance: Lower Temps, Better Fuel Economy
Beyond sound and styling, the SPELAB DPF back dual exhaust delivers measurable performance improvements. Based on user reports and dyno-backed data from both 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax and 2011–2016 LML Duramax trucks, this dual-exit DPF-back kit can reduce Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) by 80–100°F and improve fuel economy by up to 5%—without requiring a full emissions delete.
For trucks like the Chevy Silverado 2500HD or GMC Sierra 2500HD frequently used for heavy towing or climbing grades, this upgrade ensures better thermal efficiency and more responsive power delivery. Especially when configured with a 5 inch DPF back dual exhaust, turbo gases escape faster, reducing heat soak and improving throttle response. It’s the ideal mid-tier upgrade for Duramax owners looking to boost performance while staying emissions compliant.
Who Should Upgrade to a DPF Back Dual System?
The SPELAB DPF back dual exhaust isn’t just for hardcore tuners—it’s made for a wide range of diesel truck owners. For daily drivers of the 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax, a 5-inch dual exhaust system with the factory DPF intact offers smoother flow and crisper tone without tampering with emissions. If you want a stealthy performance boost, this setup delivers just that.
For 2011–2016 LML Duramax drivers, pairing a Downpipe-back Dual kit with an EGR delete and tuner unlocks full performance potential—ideal for off-roaders, mountain haulers, and high-altitude drivers in GMC Sierra 2500HD setups. And if styling is a priority, SPELAB’s 5-inch chrome dual tips turn your truck’s rear into a show-stopping centerpiece. Whether your goal is more power, better sound, or a bold new look, there’s a dual setup that fits.
Easy Installation: DIY-Friendly and Bolt-On Ready
SPELAB’s DPF back dual exhaust kits are engineered for straightforward, bolt-on installation—perfect for DIYers and shop mechanics alike. Average install time is just 1.5 to 2 hours, with full fitment across 2017–2023 L5P Duramax and 2011–2016 LML Duramax trucks. Each kit comes complete with hangers, clamps, flanges, and step-by-step instructions, designed to bolt directly onto factory mounts—no cutting or welding needed.
Many Chevy Silverado 2500HD and GMC Sierra 3500HD owners have reported smooth garage installs using just a floor jack, socket set, and SPELAB’s included video guide. Especially on 5 inch DPF back dual systems, the precision-fit piping and sealed joints eliminate leaks and rattles. This user-friendly experience not only saves on labor costs but lets you enjoy the satisfaction of installing a performance upgrade yourself.

Welds look solid and professional quality, I have not installed them yet but I did put them in place under truck to ensure length and thus far everything looks good. I will give an update after install and on the road with them
Product came in earlier than expected and is made out of high quality materials. SPELAB hasn't let me down yet!!
The product installed perfectly high-quality superior part. For my 2022 f350. Coolant reroute kit.
Everything works great all parts fit hangers fit have pictures if needed
This is a really nice set up inexpensive but well-made. Make sure you use 1/4 inch drive and torque wrench, if you get the half socket 10mm and multi size extensions even better it’ll make getting those two back bolts easy
Makes truck breathe better and will definitely blow your y bridge out so do that while you’re in there looks great and fits up pretty good not perfect
Installed this SPELAB EGR Throttle Valve Delete on my 6.7 Cummins and the fitment was perfect. The kit was well made, installation was straightforward, and all the necessary parts were included. Everything lined up as it should and the truck runs great. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a quality replacement component.
I originally had the Banks Monster Ram intake with grid heater delete, and costed $1200. Recently I decided to give Spelab a try for their 3.5” pusher style intake with grid heater delete. Fraction of the price and performs the same. Only regret I have was my purchase of Banks.
Great product
Good product fast sipping was not that bad of a job
Nicely done ✅
Easy installation and everything fit perfectly. The kit is well-made, comes with the necessary components, and worked as expected. Shipping was fast and the quality exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a reliable EGR delete kit.
Very impressed with the quality of the cooler. Couldn’t find any instructions for the install. However, I was able to figure it out and plan to post a video for anyone else who may need help with the install.
Installed this on my 2015 6.7 Powerstroke and everything fit perfectly. Quality parts, straightforward install, and noticeable improvement in engine temps and reliability. Would definitely recommend this kit to anyone doing an EGR delete.
Installed on a 2019 Ram cab and chassis with no issues. Fitment was good, quality looks solid, and throttle response feels better. Definitely recommend this intake horn/grid heater upgrade.
FAQs
If you’re only replacing the post-DPF exhaust section (with the DPF still intact), no ECU tuning is required. It’s fully plug-and-play with the stock ECM. However, if you're planning a full LML DPF delete or running a Downpipe-back Dual with tuner, then ECU recalibration is necessary using EFI Live or HP Tuners.
These kits are designed specifically for:
- 2011–2016 LML 6.6L Duramax
- 2017–2023 L5P 6.6L Duramax
Fitment includes Chevy Silverado 2500HD/3500HD and GMC Sierra 2500HD/3500HD, using factory hangers and precise flange alignment.
A 4-inch dual exhaust is great for daily use with a mild tone and smooth flow. A 5-inch setup offers louder, deeper sound and bigger airflow—perfect for off-road builds and show trucks.
The SPELAB DPF back dual exhaust is intended for off-road or race use only in most states. If it involves removing emissions components like DPF or EGR, it may violate EPA or local laws. Please check your local emissions regulations before purchasing.
For max performance, consider bundling with:
- EGR delete kits (LML only)
- ECM tuning devices like EFI Live
- 5-inch chrome or carbon fiber tips
- Optional muffled mid-pipes for quieter operation
