Powerstroke Tuner Delete Kit
What Is the Powerstroke Tuner Delete Kit?
SPELAB’s Powerstroke tuner delete kit is a purpose-built upgrade for Ford diesel truck owners looking to unlock engine performance and eliminate restrictive emissions systems.
Whether you're driving a 2012 F-250 6.7L Powerstroke or a 2009 F-350 6.4L, this kit provides a reliable way to:
- Remove DEF, DPF, and EGR systems
- Boost horsepower, torque, and throttle response
- Improve fuel economy and engine efficiency
- Reduce regeneration cycles and limp mode events
Unlike universal tuners, SPELAB’s delete kits are specifically designed for the complex ECU calibrations of Ford 6.0L, 6.4L, and 6.7L Powerstroke engines. Each tuner is optimized to work with platform-specific emissions layouts.
For drivers in cold-weather regions or who perform heavy-duty towing, a DEF delete for 6.7 Powerstroke also helps avoid:
- Frozen DEF injectors
- Emissions-related CELs
- Sudden power loss under load
That’s why more Ford truck owners are choosing to delete and tune their 6.7 Powerstroke with SPELAB’s platform-specific solutions—built for performance, reliability, and full emissions control removal.
Powerstroke Engine & Tuning Needs
Choosing the right 6.7 Powerstroke delete tuner starts with knowing your truck’s exact engine generation. Ford’s Powerstroke lineup spans across three key platforms—6.0L, 6.4L, and 6.7L—each with different emissions setups, ECU architectures, and tuning requirements. SPELAB’s tuners are purpose-built to match these differences for reliable performance and seamless installation.
6.0L Powerstroke (2003–2007)
- No factory DPF or DEF system
- Requires EGR delete support only
- Best paired with a simple 6.0 Powerstroke tuner such as Mini Maxx V1
- Ideal for users seeking to reduce EGR-related CELs and gain modest torque improvements
6.4L Powerstroke (2008–2010)
- Includes DPF and EGR systems
- Known for regen issues, boost dropouts, and high-pressure fuel system faults
- Compatible with Mini Maxx V1 or V2 for DPF delete tuner support
- A common platform for fleet users looking to extend reliability
6.7L Powerstroke (2011–2022)
- Features complete DEF, DPF, and EGR integration
- Requires advanced tuning options such as Commander Tuner or Mini Maxx V2
- Supports Shift-On-The-Fly, DEF disable, and performance mode switching
- Essential for anyone performing a full def delete on 6.7 Powerstroke trucks
By aligning your tuner to your engine’s specific emissions setup, you reduce install risk, avoid ECM faults, and unlock the full benefit of your 6.7 Powerstroke delete kit with tuner.
SPELAB Powerstroke Delete Tuner Lineup: Real Solutions for Real Engines
SPELAB’s delete tuner lineup isn’t just a list of product names—it’s a series of purpose-built tools engineered for specific generations of the Ford Powerstroke engine family. From the early days of EGR-heavy 6.0L Powerstroke trucks to the DEF-controlled 6.7L platforms running complex emissions calibrations, each tuner has been tested, refined, and proven in real-world driving, towing, and fleet conditions.

Powerstroke Tuner Delete Kit: Installation Tips & Setup Guidelines
Installing a Powerstroke tuner delete kit is relatively straightforward if you understand your engine platform and follow essential steps carefully. Whether you’re deleting emissions on a 6.0L, 6.4L, or 6.7L Powerstroke, the guidelines below help prevent install errors and tuning failure.
General Prep:
- Use a 10A+ battery charger during flashing to prevent voltage dips (#327 / #399 errors)
- Format your SD card to FAT32, max 8GB, and load SPELAB’s latest firmware
- Always disconnect your negative battery cable before installation
- Unplug all emission sensors (DPF, EGR, DEF) before tuning to avoid fault detection
Mini Maxx V1 / V2 Setup Notes (6.0–6.7L):
- When prompted, select your exact year/make/model—misidentifying a 6.4L as 6.7L is a common error
- After flashing, go to Diagnostics > Clear DTCs to wipe any lingering codes
- If you see “Warm-Up Mode” or “Defueling,” you can disable or customize it under the setup menu
- Avoid smart chargers or booster packs—they often interrupt mid-write
Commander Tuner Tips (2020–2022 6.7L):
- Commander features auto VIN detection—give it 30 seconds on first startup
- Make sure the bypass cable connects to the correct port (typically 5th pin on the green harness behind dash)
- Perform updates using a Windows 10/11 PC only—Mac OS may corrupt file structure
- Once flashing begins, do not shut off the ignition or disconnect power. This can trigger engine recovery mode
Proper setup ensures your 6.7 Powerstroke delete tuner or DEF delete kit installs without issue, unlocking the full potential of your engine while avoiding the hassle of limp mode or reflash recovery.

Best investment i bought and proud to have from SPELAB
Instructions were great, could
Be more detailed but overall great product, install wasn’t bad at all, unfortunately snapped oil dipstick tube following instructions but other than that I would say the plugs in the intake could’ve been put in prior rather than leaving room for install error
Very nice
Good products great pricing
Works great, find out how to wire it on YouTube if you aren’t sure, super easy though only two wires
this 2017 3500 Ram with now 111274 miles was used by PO to pull 5th wheel and now it pulls a 30 ft airstream TT.. I change out fluid at 96K with OEM cover and started looking for replacement.. this is great with magnetic drain plugs which is a great help as we change out oil every 35K miles as we tow a lot..
This new alum cover with fins is much like the AAM unit used on teh HO engines from factory with not quite the amount of and placement of fins but in the end this accomplished the goal of keeping the fluid cooler especially when towing.
One thing i did notice was the no actual instruction on what was proper level of oil in sight glass.. Usually on OEM cover you fill till the oil dribbles out the fill plug on cover and that if good..
on this model I noticed the sight glass was lower than the OEM plug determining the level need to be not the middle of the sight glass but at the TOP of the sight glass.. just saying.. the inside has fluid diversion fins so help move the oil to ponion gear and the side bearing on housing..
The fit and finish are great and it looks super cool now in the alum color.. I though about spray painting and sanding the edge of the fins to have that nice contrast but left it silver.
highly recommend and the price is right..
Order came in a few days earlier than the expected delivery day pretty easy install it makes the engine may look a lot better
I purchased a pair of Spelab Electric Cutouts for my BMW. Everything in the kit was shipped quickly, was perfectly packaged and the quality of their product is top notch. I installed the cutouts and I couldn't happier with the way they work. I was even able to pair the remote to the Homelink buttons to open and close the valves.
Hoping to gain a sponsorship soon I use yalls parts on my personal build and customers builds
Very good quality kit and was easy to install!! I highly recommend it!!
Excellent quality product that definitely delivers a difference in throttle response. You can tell that the engine is breathing much better. I highly recommend this to everyone out there. Shipping was fast too!! And to top it off, the dreaded engine killing grid heater plate is gone for good! Look how bad the grid heater was after only 46,000 mi. You can barely see thru the grids. Ridiculous design by Cummins/Ram. They should be ashamed for putting that piece of junk on such a good engine. Next up, turbo tubes!
Fit my 08 6.4 extended cab just fine. Sounds great with a 5x7 tip
I have always used there products and customers always are happy
Was on the fence between the 4 or 5…but definitely glad I went with the 5! Fits perfect and sounds amazing!!
Wow. That says it all. Fast shipping, looks great big thing is what a difference it makes from stock things just act different with the more air flow.
Frequently Asked Questions
No. Once installed, the delete tune remains active even if the tuner is removed. However, it will default to “No Power” mode unless the tuner is reconnected to switch modes.
It occurs when the flash is interrupted or fails due to low voltage or unplugging mid-install. Reconnect the same tuner, return to stock, and reinstall the delete tune. If the truck won’t start, dealer or tuner-based reflash may be needed.

VIN auto-detection, cold-start fuel optimization, smart idle controls, high-altitude turbo adjustments, and real-time ECM monitoring. Designed for 2020–2022 6.7L Powerstroke models.
- #399/#327 = SD card not recognized or unstable voltage during flash
- C747 = ECM is locked or the vehicle is not supported (common in 4500/5500 chassis models)
- Fix: Reformat SD to FAT32, confirm correct platform, and use a steady 10A+ charger
Not if done correctly. Disconnect all DEF-related sensors and use updated tunes. Some early 6.7L Powerstroke ECUs may require newer firmware files to suppress emissions-related DTCs.
