We all are aware of the fact the engine produces power by burning fuel. And, to get the maximum output from the engine, these hot, burnt gases are used to drive turbo for forced induction and, eventually our power and performance gets to the top. Up pipe is a component of exhaust system which directs the exhaust gases towards the turbo charger from the exhaust manifold. Whereas, down pipes takes the gases from the turbo charger and directs them to the entire exhaust system.
What is LB7?
The Duramax LB7 engine is a powerful diesel engine that was produced by General Motors for use in its Chevrolet and GMC trucks. Duramax V8 engine is basically a family of 6.6L diesel engines and a joint venture of ISUZU and General Motors. Among the most famous models of Duramax engines are LB7, LLY and LML.
What is LB7 Up pipe?
Up pipes and down pipes are basically the components of exhaust system. The up pipe connects the exhaust manifold to the turbo charger whereas, the downpipe connects the turbo to the rest of the exhaust system.
The lb7 up pipe is a tube that connects the exhaust manifold of LB7 engine to the turbo charger. With the help of up pipe, we improve the forced induction of the engine as well as maintain low exhaust gas temperature. By directing exhaust gases away from the engine towards the turbo charger, the up pipe helps to reduce the amount of heat and pressure that is created within the engine compartment. When a vehicle is not pushed to its limit it breathes normally but when we push it to its limit we need to ensure proper amount of oxygen for the engine. Because, this up pipe can limit the amount of oxygen which is going inside the engine and as oxygen is limited the performance is reduced because fuel burning suffers. It is similar to a human, that, if at the time of exaggeration, a human cannot get the required amount of oxygen he would fail and same is the case with the vehicle. Therefore, we need to be extremely careful about the intake and exhaust strokes of our vehicle.
