Our high-performance diesel DPF delete kits are designed for serious diesel enthusiasts who want to unlock horsepower, improve throttle response, and eliminate the hassle of frequent diesel DPF regens.
Whether you're building a tow rig, daily driver, or off-road monster, SPELAB's DPF delete kit lineup delivers clean fitment and powerful gains for all major platforms.
2. What Is a Diesel DPF System Made Of?
A typical diesel vehicle Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) system consists of the following main components:
Component | Function |
---|---|
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) | Captures particulate matter (PM), such as soot, from the exhaust gases |
PF Differential Pressure Sensor | Measures pressure difference before and after the DPF to detect clogging |
Temperature Sensors | Monitor exhaust gas temperature to determine if regeneration conditions are met |
Oxygen Sensor / NOx Sensor | Monitors oxygen or nitrogen oxide levels to help manage the regeneration process |
ECU (Electronic Control Unit) | Receives sensor data and controls the diesel DPF regeneration process |
Fuel Injection System (for active regeneration) | Injects additional fuel into the exhaust to raise temperature and burn off soot |
DPF Filter Warning Light (Dashboard Indicator) | Alerts the driver if the DPF is clogged or not functioning properly |
3. What is DPF Delete? How It Works? And DPF Delete / Eliminator Kits Pros & Cons
The diesel particulate filter (DPF) traps soot to meet emissions standards—but often causes exhaust restriction, higher EGTs, and increased fuel consumption. A DPF delete kit from SPELAB replaces the factory filter system with free-flowing delete pipes, enabling your engine to breathe properly and respond faster under load.
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) removal involves physically removing the filter from the exhaust system and reprogramming the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit) to disable associated functions. This step is critical to preventing trouble codes, limp modes, and other operational issues. Specialized tools or diesel particulate filter removal kits are used to perform this process and ensure that the system runs smoothly without the diesel particulate filter.
SPELAB’s diesel DPF delete kits deliver a powerful combination of real-world performance gains and long-term reliability. Here’s how our systems perform when paired with proper tuning:
3.1 Pros (with Realistic Performance Ranges):
-
Horsepower Gains:
Expect +35 to +120 HP, depending on engine type, tuner, and supporting mods
(e.g., 6.7L Powerstroke sees ~+80 HP with full delete + tune) -
Torque Increase:
Up to +120 to +250 lb-ft of torque for heavy-duty applications like Cummins and Duramax engines -
Faster Turbo Spool & Throttle Response:
Reduction in turbo lag by 15–30%, with smoother mid-range power delivery -
Fuel Economy Boost (MPG):
Gain +1 to +3 MPG under consistent load or towing scenarios
(Varies with driving style, weight, and elevation) -
Eliminate Regen Cycles / dpf regeneration:
Regeneration DPF cycles typically occur every 300–500 miles, saving downtime and fuel -
Lower EGTs (Exhaust Gas Temps):
Drop of 100°F to 300°F under full throttle or towing loads, preserving engine life -
Durability & Materials:
Built from T304 stainless steel or aluminized steel, rated for temps up to 1,600°F
(5-year to lifetime corrosion resistance depending on model)
3.2 Cons / Considerations:
-
Requires custom tuning (diesel tuner recommended)
-
Not legal for highway use in all areas—off-road or race use only
-
Installation may require basic mechanical knowledge or shop help

4. Kit Components – Fully Customizable Setup
SPELAB offers a wide range of components to create a fully customized DPF delete exhaust system for your diesel truck. Mix and match the following options to fit your power goals and truck configuration:
4.1 Typical Components in a DPF Delete Kit
Component | Description |
---|---|
4-5 inch Exhaust Tip / Muffler | Tail-end exhaust tip, usually 4” or 5” in diameter. May include a muffler to control exhaust tone and volume. |
DPF Delete Race Pipe / Dual DPF Delete Pipe | Replaces the factory DPF section with a free-flow straight pipe. “Dual” version supports twin-turbo or dual exhaust setups. |
DPF & Cat Delete Pipe with Muffler | Removes both the DPF and catalytic converter, often includes a muffler for quieter operation. |
DPF-Back Exhaust | Replaces only the section of exhaust after the DPF. Ideal for retaining factory downpipe and front section. |
Downpipe Exhaust | Connects from the turbocharger to where the DPF was. Crucial in full DPF delete systems. |
Turbo-Back Exhaust | Full system replacement from the turbo to the exhaust tip. Eliminates all emissions components for max performance. |
Each diesel DPF delete kit can be paired with our EGR delete kit, DEF delete kit, or DEF fluid elimination kit for a full emissions system overhaul.
4.2 Duramax & Cummins & Powerstroke Differences
Duramax (e.g. LLY, LBZ, LMM, LML, L5P)
-
Common components:
-
Downpipe (especially important for LML+)
-
DPF Race Pipe (with or without muffler)

9. FAQ
1. Do I need a tuner with a DPF delete kit?
Yes. When removing emissions components like the DPF, EGR, or DEF, your truck’s ECU will still expect signals from those systems. Without proper tuning, your truck will trigger warning lights, enter limp mode, or perform erratically.
We recommend pairing your DPF delete kit with a compatible diesel tuner or programmer to recalibrate your ECU.

Awesome people and products an I will be using yall on all my builds I got three more trucks to do maybe put some instructions in for none mechanical people would be very helpful I bin working on disel hevy equipment for over 30 years I know where everything gos an how it works just put 2016 engine in 2012 truck just had few changes but all good

Quality product, carefully packed and quickly shipped. Very happy customer here.

I was surprised when I removed the DPF/SCR and replaced it with a straight pipe with a high flow muffler… and it was quiet. But I don’t have to worry about getting pulled over. Easy install, very straightforward. Would buy again. Shipped fast! But if you want louder pipes, consider the straight pipe.

Great product, well made, fit is perfect. Hardware sent is a little short in my opinion so I reused factory hardware. Turned out great.

Great product and comes with everything you need.

In my opinion best bang for your buck and very trustworthy company and had in stock

Great kit but I like the black bracket for the water pipe and exhaust temp sensor.

The installation is easy and smooth.

They make the parts affordable thank the lord, got the website from my mechanic but he never tried them yet- I gave them a shot now I get it

I’ve bought this part two times now for different trucks and it works great highly recommend!

The exhaust sounds amazing. And very easy to install. Only complaint would be packaging. UPS destroys the box when delivered, if there were better Cushioning within the box, less likely to be damaged.

Great Fitment and Fast shipping. Highly Recommend!

The expansion tank fit excellent and looks great. Functions as it should.

All parts arrived promptly and packed well. Installation was smooth and trouble free except for the tube style heater which would not thread into the new intake elbow. The provided plug threaded in fine so will have to revisit that issue before winter.

Overall I was very impressed. Pricing was great, everything I needed was provided. Quality of the parts was good. I would definitely recommend this package when compared to others.
