1. Best 6.7 Cummins EGR Delete Kits for Ram 2500 & 3500 (2007–2024)
Looking to unlock more power, improve long-term reliability, and reduce costly carbon buildup on your 6.7L Cummins-powered Ram 2500 or 3500? You’re not alone. Diesel owners across the U.S. are turning to EGR delete kits to eliminate restrictive emissions systems and restore the raw performance their trucks were built for.
At SPELAB, we offer a full range of EGR delete solutions for 6.7 Cummins trucks, built with high-quality materials, real-world testing, and complete install support. Whether you daily drive, tow heavy loads, or take your rig off-road, our kits are designed to help you get the most out of your Cummins engine—with confidence.
2. How Does an EGR Delete Work on a 6.7L Cummins? Benefits & Trade-Offs
Deleting the EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) system on your 6.7L Cummins diesel truck unleashes noticeable performance improvements across the board. The EGR system recirculates hot exhaust gases back into the intake, which reduces emissions—but also brings problems like carbon buildup, increased intake temperatures, and reduced throttle response.
By installing a Cummins 6.7 EGR Delete Kit, users typically report the following performance gains:
-
✅ Horsepower increase of 15–25 HP
-
✅ Torque gain of 30–50 lb-ft, especially in the low-end range
-
✅ Lower Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs) by up to 150°F
-
✅ Improved throttle response and smoother acceleration
-
✅ Fuel economy boost of 1–2 MPG in real-world driving
-
✅ Extended turbocharger and engine lifespan due to cleaner airflow
A 2018 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins equipped with an EGR + Throttle Valve delete kit saw a 12% improvement in towing throttle response and nearly a 100°F drop in EGTs when climbing under load.
2.1 Pros of EGR Delete on the 6.7 Cummins
-
Eliminates Carbon Buildup in the Intake
The factory EGR system recirculates soot-laden exhaust back into the intake, which causes sludge and clogging. An EGR delete keeps the intake clean, reducing long-term maintenance. -
Lowers Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGTs)
EGR delete can reduce EGTs by as much as 150°F—critical for those towing, hauling, or driving in mountainous terrain with a Ram 2500 or 3500. -
Improves Low-End Throttle Response
More efficient airflow at lower RPMs means better acceleration from a stop—great for towing trailers or navigating city traffic with a loaded bed. -
Prevents Common EGR Fault Codes & Expensive Repairs
Codes like P0401 and P0402 are common on 6.7 Cummins trucks with aging EGR systems. Deleting the system eliminates leaks, stuck valves, and clogged coolers—saving hundreds in repairs. -
Synergizes with Throttle Valve Delete & Tuners
On 2015–2022 Ram 6.7 Cummins models, combining EGR delete with a throttle valve delete and a tuner like the Mini Maxx V2 can significantly boost response and MPG.
2.2 Cons of EGR Delete on the 6.7 Cummins
-
Not Legal for On-Road Use in Some States
EGR delete kits are intended for off-road, race, or agricultural use only. Always check local emissions laws before installation. -
Requires a Compatible Tuner
Without tuning (such as EFI Live or H&S Mini Maxx V2 ), your truck may throw a check engine light or go into limp mode after EGR removal. -
Installation Can Be Tricky for Beginners
While all SPELAB kits include instructions and video guides, newer models (especially 2020+) have tighter engine bays and more sensors. We recommend professional installation if you’re not mechanically experienced.
Bottom line? If you drive a 2012 Ram 2500 used for towing, and you're looking for more power, better response, and long-term reliability—an EGR delete is a smart upgrade. Just make sure it matches your vehicle’s intended use and you're set up with proper tuning.

6.3 Step-by-Step Printed Install Guide (What’s Inside)
- First, always disconnect the battery before starting. This prevents triggering false fault codes or shorting a sensor.
- Next, drain the coolant and remove the EGR cooler and EGR valve. On 2013+ models, the coolant return line at the rear of the EGR cooler is tight—use a flex-head ratchet and go slowly to avoid stripping bolts.
- Then, install the coolant bypass hose or block-off plate included in your kit. Make sure the block-off plates sit flush and gaskets are correctly aligned. When working on the turbo up-pipe flange, it's critical to double-check alignment before tightening. Always use the new gaskets provided, and torque all bolts to the manufacturer’s spec.
- For sensors, carefully unplug the EGR temp and pressure sensors. Do not cut the wiring harness—you may need it for your tuner or CEL bypass. Sensors can be zip-tied aside if not reused.
- After reassembly, refill the cooling system and bleed the air. Run the engine with the heater on full blast to help purge air pockets and avoid hot spots in the head.
- Lastly, connect your tuner (such as the Mini Maxx V2 or EFI Live) to disable EGR functions and prevent DTCs or limp mode. This is a required step for modern ECMs.

8. FAQ
Q1: Do I need a tuner with an EGR delete on a 6.7 Cummins?
Yes. Removing the EGR system will trigger fault codes (like P0401, P0402) and a check engine light unless you use a compatible tuner. We recommend the Mini Maxx V2 or EFI Live to disable EGR-related diagnostics and optimize engine performance.
Q2: What models do SPELAB EGR Delete Kits fit?
Our kits are compatible with 2007–2024 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 6.7L Cummins diesel engine. This includes standard pickups and Cab & Chassis versions. Just make sure you select the correct year-specific kit when ordering.
Q3: Can I run an EGR delete without removing the DPF or DEF systems?
Technically yes—but not recommended. The factory ECM will still detect emissions system conflicts unless all components are deleted and tuned accordingly. For best results and to avoid limp mode, pair your EGR delete with a tuner or consider a full delete kit if using the truck off-road.
Q4: What’s the benefit of adding a throttle valve delete?
The throttle valve restricts airflow, especially at low RPM. Deleting it in combination with your EGR delete improves turbo spool-up, throttle response, and low-end torque—great for towing or stop-and-go driving.
Q5: Will EGR delete affect engine life or reliability?
Yes—in a positive way. By removing the EGR system, you're eliminating carbon buildup, lowering intake temps, and reducing thermal stress on your engine. This typically results in longer turbo and head gasket life, fewer sensor failures, and less maintenance over time.

Great experience! Nice diff cover!! Be shopping with ya’ll again🤘🏻

As advertised works and looks great

Good stuff, love the kit. Installed it all myself under 6 hours. Now I need to find a way to keep the minimax from getting unplugged when I hit a bump

Easy to install, quality parts, and sound better than I expected. I would recommend these to others. Instructions are on line.

Intake horn is real nice, block off plate is real nice, gaskets are decent. I removed first 3 fuel lines and the cp3 line and had mine done in about 4hr by myself start to finish. 2012 Cummins. No cel, no issues. Took away a lot of the black smoking. Increased boost noticeably. Five stars.

Good fit, sounds awesome, definitely made a difference, hose clamps could be a little better, holes was off a little for the sensors, but for the price overall good product!

They have great customer service what I order was much better than what I was expecting to receive thank you for guys for everything

This was a very easy install, the parts seems to be good quality.

Great products, the updates and revisions to there parts show they care about making things better. 100% would buy all my parts from Spelab.

Directions were not good and there isn’t a heater bolt yet..but the product is great and you can’t beat the price. Happy with the product.

This is a good upgrade. I change the rear differential fluid frequently so now I will be able to drain and refill more easily. Easy install. No leaking. Hardware and gasket included. Very happy

I was impressed with the build quality. And very happy with the cover features: fill plug, drain plug, sight glass, nice paint, cooling fins and machined channels on the inside to direct fluid flow. I also put in some AMSOIL diff fluid. A winning combo. Love that gasket and premium hardware is included. A much better deal than the Banks cover. This cover will cool plenty abd direct fluids where it needs to go. I’m happy with my investment and highly recommend.

Fairly straight forward to install. My truck seems to be running and breathing a ton better.

Installed this billet version onto my 2019 Roush F150 recently. I wanted a cover that had the proper fluid flow vaning and fill and drain plugs to make future fluid changes easier, as I plan to renew the fluid every 30k miles. The sight glass so you can see the level and the condition of the fluid is also a great feature. I did quite a bit of research on which cover I wanted to install and saw the fluid flow issues with the square back covers, whereas this one has the proper curved design and vanes in it to direct the fluid that's coming over the top to the correct places of the differential for proper lubrication. I went with the billet one so that it's stronger than the lower priced cast version, as I keep my vehicles forever (20 years and 200k miles or more) and would rather do it right one time than have to do it again. The magnetic plugs to capture any ferrous gear wear is also a nice benefit. Installed with LubeLocker gasket.

Fit like crap. As did the down pipe. I got ppe ones and no refund from spelab
